The City of Prince George is encouraging residents to attend the final community open house events for the Official Community Plan (OCP) review.
The city is currently in phase three of the OCP Review process, which is focused on policy development. This phase will include opportunities for community members and interested parties to provide their input.
The upcoming open house details are as follows:
- Tuesday, April 9: House of Ancestors, 355 Vancouver Street, 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 10: House of Ancestors, 355 Vancouver Street, 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
An OCP communicates a community’s vision, goals, and objectives, outlining long-term development plans and guiding planning and land use management. The city’s existing OCP was adopted in 2011.
The new OCP will guide growth and development through to 2050. The OCP review process commenced in September of last year with community sessions and an online survey, supplemented by a number of pop-up community engagement sessions.
Several discussion guides have been created based on the topics generating the most public interest during the review process. These discussion guides can be found on the city’s website, covering topics such as:
“These final open house sessions will delve into the OCP details at a more granular level than previous events,” said Kali Holahan, Supervisor of Land Use Planning. “I encourage those who attended the initial open house last October to rejoin the conversation at the April 9 or 10 events to learn more about our progress and to offer your perspective for the drafting of OCP policy.”
Following months of visioning and engagement, drafting of the OCP has already begun and will continue until August. Final OCP review and approval are expected by the end of the year.
