The City of Prince George is encouraging residents to get involved in the annual Community Spring Clean Up event on Sunday, April 21.

The snow has melted and the warmer days are here, so why not pitch in and help spruce up the community this spring!

Volunteers can help the city make the parks, school yards, streets, and trails shine by dedicating their time to picking up litter between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided, and a limited number of sharps containers will be available upon request. Residents who are interested in helping on the day can register online at www.princegeorge.ca/springcleanup

There will be six large dumpster bins located around the city for collected garbage, residents can find their locations along with volunteer clean-up routes on the City’s event map. The city wishes to remind residents that these bins are for Spring Clean Up participants only and should not be used for personal, household, or construction garbage. They are generously donated by Environment 360 Solutions and Cascades Recovery + for this event.

If the supplied bins are full or residents can’t bring bags to the landfill, please contact 250-613-7424 to let the city know where to pick up your collected garbage.

Garden and yard waste can be taken to the Foothills Landfill or the Quinn Street/Vanway Transfer & Recycle Stations free of charge on the day.

Do not throw away household hazardous waste, electronics, or yard and garden trimmings in City bins. These items must be discarded at:

Registered volunteers can then visit City Hall between April 15 and 19 to pick up their gear.
