The Prince George Cougars are excited to announce that Koehn Ziemmer is returning to the Cougar line-up on Friday night when they take on the Kamloops Blazers.

“He’s ready to go now. We are going to see him this weekend,” said General Manager & Head Coach Mark Lamb.

Ziemmer, 19, has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since November 27th but is now eager to rejoin his teammates on the rink.

“I can’t wait,” Ziemmer said with a smile on his face. “It’s been a long time coming. I haven’t played since late November, so it’s exciting to be back on the ice and play with the boys again.”

Throughout the recovery process, the LA Kings prospect was quick to credit the NHL club for their hard work and participation through this challenging time, “They got some of the best doctors you could ever work with,” commented Ziemmer. “I was glad they were able to help me out with it, and just feel happy with everything they did there.”

Before his injury, Ziemmer showcased his prowess on the ice, tallying 11 goals and 20 assists in 21 games. With an impressive track record of 189 points in 181 career WHL contests, Ziemmer is poised to make a significant impact on the team’s offence once again.

“It’s huge,” said Cougars forward Riley Heidt on Ziemmer returning. “He brings an edge and he can do it all. He is a great guy to have on and off the ice, in the room, and he’s a leader. It’s super exciting for our whole group.”

Ziemmer and the Cougars wrap up the regular season this weekend against the Kamloops Blazers, with the final game being on Saturday, March 23rd at 6:00 pm which will be Retro Night, a Mega 50/50 Jackpot with a guaranteed jackpot of $50,000 benefiting the Spirit of the North, and a post-game skate with the team presented by CIBC. Tickets are on sale now HERE.

The Cougars begin their 2024 Playoff drive on Friday, March 29 (7 p.m.) and March 30 (6 p.m.) at the CN Centre. The opponent is still to be determined.
