2024 NHL draft-eligible forward Parascak named WHL Rookie of the Week

The Western Hockey League announced today that Terik Parascak of the Prince George Cougars has been named Kal Tire WHL Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 10, 2024.

It’s the fifth time the 2024 NHL Draft-eligible forward has earned the award this season.

Parascak dazzled with five points (two goals, three assists) and a +4 rating in two games.

The Lethbridge, Alta. product was in on all five Prince George goals in a 5-3 victory over Vancouver on March 8. Parascak opened the scoring with a slick one-timer in the slot on a Cougars powerplay. He’d earn a pair of apples on league-leading goal scorer Zac Funk’s 60th and 61st goals of the season just 1:16 apart. Parascak drove the net in the third period to tap in a Riley Heidt feed for his 36th tally, which would also stand as the game-winner. The 5-foot-11 winger capped off a five-point night with a primary assist on a Hudson Thornton goal.

The match marks the second-most productive night of Parascak’s WHL career, second only to a four-goal, two-assist effort against Victoria back in October.

While he was held pointless in a 6-3 Prince George victory over Vancouver the following night, Parascak still finished with a +1 rating.

Parascak continues to lead the WHL’s rookie scoring race and is closing in on the century mark with 36 goals and 56 assists.

His 92 points rank first among all CHL first-year players.

The winger is considered a top prospect for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and is ranked 14thamong North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.

Parascak, who was selected by the Cougars in the fourth round, 76th overall, in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, was also named WHL Rookie of the Month for September/October and December.

Prince George (43-15-1-3) is on an 11-0-1-1 point streak and has already clinched a playoff berth and home-ice advantage in round one of the postseason.

The Western Conference-leading Cougars are back in action against Kelowna (31-28-3-1) on March 13 at 7:05 p.m. PST.
