At 6:26 a.m. on January 31, Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on the 2000-block of Gogolin Road. The fire was reported by a witness passing by who noticed smoke coming from the basement windows of the home. Three halls were dispatched to a single-family dwelling.
On arrival crews quickly contained the fire to the basement allowing other crews to search the residence for occupants. The search crews reported no occupants in the structure and the fire in the basement was brought under control.
Estimated damage is $100,000. The fire appears to have been caused by improper storage of materials around the furnace.
There were no injuries.
