The Prince George Community Foundation and Interior Savings have announced the recipient of the 2023 Spruce Credit Union Legacy Fund Grant.

A total of $20,000 will be distributed to Tourism Prince George to support the brand-new Container Vendor Market project aimed to foster community connection.

“We are so grateful for the support from the Interior Savings and the Prince George Community Foundation for choosing us to be the recipient of the Spruce Credit Union Legacy Grant,” said Colin Carson, CEO at Tourism Prince George. “This generous funding will go toward a brand-new market project, which will see multiple, all-season booths for local and Indigenous business owners. While we still have more fundraising to do to meet our final goal this grant is extremely helpful.”

“It’s exciting to be part of an innovative project designed to revitalize downtown Prince George and drive economic resiliency,” said Brian Harris, CEO, Beem Credit Union “The development of a Container Vendor Market by Tourism Prince George will provide new business opportunities for local artisans, food vendors and other entrepreneurs, creating the kind of lasting community impact the Spruce Legacy Fund was set up to support.”

This grant program, stewarded by the foundation, was established through the successful merger of Interior Savings and Spruce Credit Union as a way to recognize and extend the impact Spruce Credit Union and its founding members have had in enriching the community of Prince George.

“The Foundation is honoured to award Tourism Prince George with this funding.” said Zahid Islam, President, Prince George Community Foundation “When this fund was established last year it was with this exact intention in mind. We are so pleased to be able to offer this grant and look forward to opening this intake year after year for the betterment of our community.  The Foundation looks forward to opening this cycle again next Fall.
