Tiny home at homeless encampment burns

At 4:51a.m. Thursday, Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a reported outbuilding fire in the area of Fifth Avenue and Ottawa Street (the Lower Patricia homeless encampment).

On arrival crews from two halls found one of the donated tiny homes in the encampment fully engulfed in flames. Crews stayed on site for approximatedly one hour to extinguish the fire.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Estimated damage is $2,500. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
