Conservation North is hosting a free public information session on the B.C. government’s draft Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health Framework this Friday, January 19 at the Omineca Arts Centre.
According to the B.C. government, the results of this engagement process will inform new legislation on biodiversity and ecosystem health.
“The details will be consequential for nature, so want to make sure it’s strong,” said Michelle Connolly of Conservation North. “People here have perspectives and knowledge that is different from the south coast, so it’s important that Victoria hears from us on this.”
“We’re holding this event to make sure people in our region provide robust feedback to the BC government on this document, which will form the basis of a new law,” said Asta Glembotzki with Conservation North.
This free event will be held at Omineca Arts Centre 369 Victoria Street at 7 p.m. this Friday the 19. There will be a presentation, refreshments and an opportunity to have your voice heard. The event will also be livestreamed here.
The B.C. government is accepting public feedback on the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health Framework until the end of the month.
