The City of Prince George are inviting you to support charity this winter by helping Fill the Bin.
The initiative, led by the City of Prince George’s outreach coordinators and bylaw division, is a winter apparel and food drive event, running from today, November 30, to December 15.
To help distribute the items collected, the city has partnered with Hadih House, located at 2105 Pine Street, and Saint Vincent de Paul Society, located at 1220 Second Avenue.
Hadih House is a community drop-in centre for families and elders that offers a variety of programs from free clothing and laundry services to wellness workshops, meals, drop-in computer access and more. Saint Vincent de Paul provides hot meals, food hampers, clothing and home furnishings, and support accessing resources to those in need in Prince George and the surrounding area.
Manager of Bylaw Services, Charlotte Peters, said these organizations were selected as the outreach coordinators have seen first-hand what amazing work both Hadith House and Sain Vincent de Paul do for the local community.
“We also recognize that there’s a genuine need in both locations to support the people that obtain services from these locations,” she said.
“We know it is a hard time of year for many people, but we would encourage anyone who is able to donate, to please do so.”
The bins are ready to collect non-perishable food items and gently used or new winter apparel items including coats/jackets, socks, boots, mittens/ gloves, scarves and snowpants.
