A second assault investigation begun earlier this weekend prompted Prince George RCMP to execute a search warrant on the 5300-block of Buckhorn Lake Road on Monday, October 30.\
The suspect is known to police for other violent criminal offences and investigators determined that, while executing the search warrant, they would utilize the North District Emergency Response Team to help ensure public and police safety.
“Out of an abundance of caution for staff and students a hold-and-secure was put in place at Buckhorn Elementary School around 10:30 a.m., as the location where the search warrant was being executed was close to the school,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. “We know that this can cause stress for those involved, as well as for families of those at the school, and we want to assure the public this was done out of extreme caution and not as a result of a direct risk to the school.”
The suspect was arrested without incident during the execution of the search warrant and the hold-and-secure was lifted at the elementary school shortly after noon. Investigators are expected to be at the residence for some time yet today.
The investigation remains ongoing.
