Deadfall Brewing brings home trophies from BC Beer Awards

Some of B.C.’s best beer is brewed right here in Prince George.

Deadfall Brewing … owned by Brandon and Erin Baerwald, Will Emery, and Jane Fowler … returned from the B.C. Beer Awards with some hardware to show for it.

“We are beyond thrilled to win the awards we did this week,” the four said in news release. “We won a gold in the specialty IPA category at the BC Beer Awards, another gold for our Basal Brown Ale at the Canada Beer Cup, and then we won best-in-show at the Canada Beer Cup. The CBC is basically the Stanley Cup for craft beer in Canada and it’s a huge honour to win it. There were over 1200 entries from 250+ breweries across the entire country and our little Prince George brewery won it all with our Basal Brown Ale.”

Basal Brown Ale is Deadfall’s oldest and beloved recipe, going way back to early home brew days. Erin Baerwald is a professor of conservation behaviour and studies bats, so that’s why the symbol on the beer is a long-eared bat and why we support bat conservation.

“We are a very inclusive taproom and work hard to create a protected,  welcoming space,” they said. “We care about LQBTQIA2S+ rights, indigenous rights, and the conservation of biodiversity.”
