Friends of Prince George Public Librar ready to host fall book sale at downtown branch

As the leaves change colour and the air turns crisp, the Friends of the Prince George Public Library Society (the Friends) is gearing up for the Fall Book Sale at the Bob Harkins Branch in downtown Prince George. The two-day event, scheduled for Friday, October 13, and Saturday, October 14, promises a literary feast for book enthusiasts.

Friends members can enjoy exclusive early access to the book sale on Friday, October 13th, from 3pm to 5:30pm at the downtown Bob Harkins Branch. Non-members can easily join at the door for a membership fee of $5 (cash only). The public sale will follow on Saturday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All items will be available for a cash donation, with proceeds supporting special items, programs, and initiatives at the PGPL.

Margaret Johnston, Past President of the Friends and Books Sale Coordinator, expresses her enthusiasm for the upcoming event and encourages attendees to bring their reusable bags, cash, and a passion for books and bargains. Reflecting on the success of the previous fall book sale, Johnston emphasizes the importance of community support and fundraising for the library’s various projects.

The Friends of the Prince George Public Library, comprised of dedicated local volunteers, have been advocating for the PGPL’s programs and services since their incorporation in 1990. With over $460,000 raised through initiatives like Book Sales, memberships, and merchandise sales (mugs and bookbags), they continue to play a crucial role in the library’s growth.
Edel Toner-Rogala, current Friends President, highlights the enduring partnership between PGPL and the Friends, one built upon trust and respect. For over 30 years, the Friends have steadfastly supported, promoted, and advocated for the PGPL, affirming their commitment to the development of the library and this community.
