Drugs seized in two different incidents

In the past week, Prince George RCMP  officers have seized over 200 grams of illicit drugs and a large quantity of cash during two separate investigations.

On September 16, 2023, shortly before noon, police officers were investigating a break and enter into a fenced compound on the 600-block of Third Avenue. Three people were located inside the compound and detained. During the investigation, police officers seized more than $700 in cash, as well as a combined total of more than 50 grams of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine. They also seized a prohibited firearm that was located abandoned nearby. The three suspects were released pending further investigation.

Two days later, on September 18, 2023, just before 9:00 a.m., a Frontline police officer on routine patrol located a vehicle traveling well above of the posted speed limit heading southbound on Highway 97 N by the scales. The police officer conducted a traffic stop and observed evidence of drug paraphernalia near the driver. Police seized more than $350 in cash and a combined total of more than 150 grams of suspected crack cocaine, packaged cocaine and cannabis, and a large amount of suspected Xanax pills, from inside the vehicle. The driver was released at the scene.

“Many different investigations can bring police officers into contact with those involved in the illicit drug trade. Prince George RCMP is committed to disrupting the drug trade within our City as we know it is associated with other, often more violent, crimes,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
