Four suspects, wanted in connection to thefts, escape on foot in Salmon Valley

Police are searching in Salmon Valley for suspects wanted in connection with thefts in Mackenzie.

Tuesday morning Prince George RCMP were notified by Mackenzie RCMP of a truck heading into Prince George, whose occupants were the suspects in a recent theft investigation.

The vehicle was sighted by police officers travelling southbound on Highway 97 just before noon on the same day. The vehicle subsequently fled from police officers onto Sponaugle Road.

The police helicopter, Air 3, and a Police Service Dog team were called in to help look for the four occupants of the vehicle after it was found abandoned near the river off of Marlin Drive.

“The suspects were not located despite a lengthy attempt by multiple units and police believe they crossed the river on foot,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. “Police officers are asking that anyone who may have seen four males across the river from Marlin Road or in the surrounding area, or who noticed anything suspicious, please contact the non-emergency number to speak with an investigator.”

The investigation is ongoing.
