Yard and garden waste collection explored

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is exploring the feasibility of seasonal yard waste collection in municipalities within the region. Currently over 6000 tonnes of yard and garden waste is being diverted from the landfill through public drop off depots in Prince George, Mackenzie and Valemount. A feasibility study has looked at cost and operational considerations for municipal curbside collection of seasonal yard and garden waste as well as increasing compost processing. The Board was presented with a number of options and rough estimates of costs involved. The information will be shared with the municipalities of Prince George, Mackenzie, McBride and Valemount for their consideration and input.
