Pelican Lake fire in the Cariboo

The BC Wildfire Service along with support from heavy equipment, aircraft and contracted personnel – continue to respond to the Pelican Lake wildfire (C11437) in the Cariboo Fire Centre. This fire is approximately 3,876 hectares in size and is currently classified as out of control.
 
Under easterly winds this afternoon, the firefighters experienced an increase in fire activity and movement to the west in the vicinity of Alex Meadow Road.
 
Over the coming days, firefighters and heavy equipment will be focused on establishing and consolidating guards around the south-eastern extent of the fire perimeter.
 
Firefighters will also be maintaining an active patrol around the remainder of the fire perimeter, mopping up and consolidating guards and areas burnt by planned ignitions.
