Peacock Fire near Houston now at 250 hectares

The B.C. Wildfire Service is responding to the Peacock Creek wildfire (R21178), located six kilometres from Houston. Winds pushed this fire east, growing to approx 250 ha. This fire is exhibiting continuous crown with an organized flame front, spotting 400 m ahead of itself.
 
The fire is listed as a fire of note and is out of control. Lightning is the suspected cause of the fire.
 
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has issued an evacuation order for aall properties and lands accessed by Buck Flats Rd., in Electoral Area G (Houston/Granisle Rural) and south of the Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Club to two kilometres south of the Roses Rd. Junction
