Long weekend a long one for RCMP

The July long weekend was busy for Prince George RCMP, with police officers responding to 374 files between July 1 and July 3. This is compared to 2022 which saw 350 calls to police over the same time period.

Here is a snapshot of some of the calls Prince George RCMP responded to over the weekend:

  • 2023-21969: police officers are investigating a report of a vehicle arson. The suspect is known to police and is wanted on two unendorsed warrants.
  • 2023-21955: police officers received a report of an attempted robbery on the 2700-block of Vanier Drive. The victim reports he was approached by two male youth who demanded his car keys and money and threatened him with a knife. The victim was uninjured in the incident in the incident. Police are processing nearby video surveillance for possible photos of the suspects.
  • 2023-21928: investigators arrested one man on the 3100-block of Massey Drive after he was seen performing an indecent act near a bus stop. The man was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
  • 2023-21949: a liquor store on the 100-block of Tabor Boulevard was robbed by a youth who threatened staff with a knife. Police officers located and arrested the suspect a short time later. The youth was later released to his guardian on an undertaking with a future court date.
  • 2023-22048: a man wanted on four warrants was located in a camper on the Takla Forest Service Road. He was arrested without incident and held for court.
  • 2023-21955: police officers received a report of a break-and-enter from a business on the 905-block of the Hart Highway. A man was observed breaking into a travel trailer inside a compound at that location. The suspect was arrested and held for court.
  • 2023-22158: a man was arrested for robbery after threatening staff with a knife at a retail outlet on the 2400-block of Ferry Avenue. The suspect was found breaching several court-imposed conditions. He was held for court.
  • 2023-22142: police officers arrested a man for possession of stolen property after he was located inside of a stolen vehicle. The man was held for court and will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
  • 2023-22137: police officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 16 West by Lower Mud River Road. Two people were ejected from the vehicle during the incident but received only minor injuries. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition as well as several violation tickets.
  • 2023-22209: police officers were called regarding two overdue fishermen in the Blackwater area. The fishermen were located safe and sound the next morning, having spent the night in the bush.
