Plenty of local talent returning to Kodiaks’ lineup

Jason Kragt

The Prince George Kodiaks Football Team is welcoming back the largest contingent of local players in the province.

Although the Kodiaks are new to the BC Football Conference and Canadian Junior Football League, football is not new to Prince George. Prince George has a long tradition of football dating back to the Prince George Minor Football Association, where many of our current local, community, and junior coaches come from.

Most local players on the Kodiaks also have a connection to the former community program. In addition, Prince George, and Vanderhoof, have a strong high school football presence in the community and are a powerful source for local talent on the gridiron.

The Prince George Kodiaks Football Team places an emphasis on the growth and development of local players and coaches. For this it has recruited several local players who are graduating from their high school programs to join the team in 2023. And after its inaugural season, the Kodiaks are celebrating home-grown talent by announcing the return of 16 local inaugural Kodiaks players:

  • QB Quinn Neukkom (Duchess Park)
  • REC Jerome Erickson (College Heights)
  • LB Nick Tremblay (College Heights)
  • DB Hayden Matheson (College Heights)
  • DB Carson Flynn (College Heights)
  • DB Logan Devauld (Shas Ti Kelly Road)
  • QB Andrew Johnson (Duchess Park)
  • REC Carson Briere (Duchess Park)
  • DB Robert Hawkins (Shas Ti Kelly Road)
  • OL Spencer Rogers (College Heights)
  • DB Alexander MacPheat (PGSS)
  • LB Levi Martin (College Heights)
  • REC Kameron Shoesmith (NVSS)
  • DL Jason Kragt (PGSS)
  • REC TJ Nyberg (Shas Ti Kelly Road)
  • REC Aman Bansal (DP Todd).

“These players represent the strength of Prince George football as well as the local high schools playing,” said Coach Jamie Boreham. “We would like to acknowledge the countless time and people that have been involved in the development of these young men and the football programs they represent.”

Make sure to get your tickets to come out and cheer on our local players and the rest of the team. The home opener is July 29 and tickets can be purchased through ticketsnorth.ca.
