Evacuation order issued for Ittsi Creek and Maxhamish Lake areas in northern B.C.

An evacuation order has been issued by the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality due to immediate danger to life safety caused by a wildfire in the Ittsi Creek and Maxhamish Lake area, west/south-west of Maxhamish Lake.

The areais bounded by:

  • A line from N 59 54.759 x W 123 07.548
  • A line from N 59 41.016 x W 123 07.548
  • A line from N 59 41.016 x W 123 43.439
  • A line from N 59 54.759 x W 123 43.439

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU ARE IN THE ORDER AREA:

  • YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY
  • Call 9-1-1 if you are in immediate danger
  • Close all windows and doors
  • Shut off all gas and electrical appliances, other than refrigerators and freezers
  • Close gates (latch) but do not lock
  • Gather your family/co-workers and ensure everyone is accounted for: take a neighbour or someone who needs help
  • Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.
  • Do not use more vehicles then you have to.
  • Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.
