More than 140 golfers will attend the 14th Dillon Adey Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday June 17 at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.

They will tee off shotgun style to contribute to the on-oing legacy of Dillon Adey and support students at the College of New Caledonia.

Dillon was a CNC business student. He lost his life in a motor vehicle accident in 2009. Over the years, Dillon’s family and friends have organized, contributed to, and participated in the memorial golf tournament and other fundraising events to create a strong legacy in his honour.

“The Fathers’ Day weekend is never easy since we lost Dillon,” said Perry Adey, Dillon’s father. “He and I always celebrated by playing a round of golf on Saturday, then going to the Show and Shine on Sunday. Now we get comfort by the number of people who keep coming out to share stories of Dillon and honour his memory through the tournament year after year.”

Proceeds from the tournament have provided 85 students to date with financial aid and awards to support their education. Students across the college continue to benefit from teaching tools and equipment purchased with funds from tournament participants and sponsors.

“Dillon’s legacy lives on at CNC in many ways,” said Dr. Dennis Johnson, CNC president and CEO. “We’re grateful for the donations of and organization efforts by the Adey family along with other generous contributors and participants over the past 14 years. Dillon’s legacy is helping students to chase their dreams and create a lasting impact.”

While final proceeds have yet to be determined, the 2023 tournament is off to a strong start with a record of four title sponsors: Ex-cel Acoustics Ltd., KJM SalesLtd., FFR Glass Service, and Mothus Financial Services. All 18 holes have been sponsored.
