Primetime Wrestling returned to action recently in the city, and in addition to providing the thrills and excitement of the action between the ropes, made an even bigger splash through their support for community charities.
The troupe, led by Davy Greenlees and Stuart Brown were pleased to drop of a cheque for the St. Vincent de Paul Society for $4,684.50 stemming from proceeds from their last event at the House of Ancestors. Helping make this donation possible was two-time event title sponsor Canadian Tire, who selected the St. Vincent de Paul Society as their recipient of choice for Primetime’s donation. In addition to the cash donation, patrons of the wrestling events donated a combined 30 pounds of non-perishable food items as well.
“Community is really what we’re all about,” said Greenlees. “It is great to bring some exciting live entertainment to town, but it is equally important to us to be able to contribute to the causes that serve the community in big ways.”
Since Primetime Wrestling set up shop in Prince George last October, the professional wrestling league has donated more than $10,300 to local organizations – previously fundraising for the Northern B.C. Crisis Prevention and Intervention Centre.
Brown tells us that wrestling will return to Prince George in September with another pair of action-packed nights.
“Summer is hard to schedule live indoor events because everyone wants to be outdoors or on vacation. Plus, the wrestlers that we have been bringing to Prince George are in high demand across the country. Some of these men and women are scheduled more than six months out.”
