On Wednesday, May 17, Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 6000-block of Rita Place.
During the search, suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash, were located and seized.
Police have identified the fentanyl seized as extremely potent and it is believed to be responsible for several drug overdose deaths in Prince George in the last month,
states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
One person was arrested and subsequently released back to the community pending charge approval by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.
“The seizure of these drugs has saved lives and resulted in a safer community,” said
Cpl. Scott Cundy of Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit. “We would like to remind the public that investigators are targeting enforcement action against those involved in the illicit drug trade and we encourage the public to contact police or Crime Stoppers with any information.”
