Prince George Brain Injured Group Home celebrates its 30th anniversary.

In May, Prince George Brain Injured Group Home will celebrate 30 years of being the only group home specialized in brain injury in northern B.C.

This group home is home to five residents who are supported to have the best quality of life after injury. Not only does it provide compassionate care its priority is to ensure those residents are living the life they want to.

This ranges from going to movies, concerts, vacation trips home to see their family as well as all the activities such as gardening to music to art projects and cooking.

Prince George residents are far luckier than people in other areas because they have access to one of the most innovative and proactive brain injury associations in all Western Canada. PG BIG provides state of the art community rehabilitative programs and services, many found nowhere else.

Prince George Brain Injured Group’s remarkable programs and services go far beyond individual life-changing development and community rehabilitation. In addition to services geared to people living with brain injury, they provide helmet fittings, bike rodeos, information booths, and education programs for both the public and professionals.

PG BIG also created B.C.’s first Corrections Integrated Brain Injury Services Program. This program won a Healthier You Award, as well as a provincial Public Service Award in 2017. PG BIG also created Canada’s first Industry Trades Sampler Program specialized in brain injury with the College of New Caledonia.
