CHBA Home and Garden Show this weekend at Exhibition Park

The annual spring home show hosted by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Northern BC has marked the arrival of spring for more than four decades, and following a three-year interruption, the show opens this Friday at 3 p.m., at Exhibition Park.

“As the grass reappears, people are eager to expand their living space to include outdoors,” said Executive Officer, Terri McConnachie. “Perhaps a renewal of indoor and outdoor space with fresh paint and a new colour is in order? It is time to check the roof and take care of other post winter home and yard maintenance. How has the sundeck surface held up after another winter and perhaps you are ready to plan a renovation or talk to a designer or builder about your dream home? Life changes, and the demands on your home will change along with it.”

You will find everything you need, and more, at the Northern BC Home & Garden Show. The person receiving the most votes in the Crappy Patio Contest will win spiffy new deck furniture and outdoor living accessories in addition to a Traeger barbecue generously provided by RONA Capital Building Supplies. The chance to win a custom-built kid’s playhouse by Hawes Home & Yard Contracting and supplied by Central Builders’ is included with admission as is the Green Thumb Prize Package sponsored by Canadian Tire and Northern Hart Designs.

The Makerie is on site hosting a Create-A-Critter workshop for kids and a Paint with Nature Afternoon Tea and Charcuterie event. Learn to design and plan gardens, flower beds and greenery for seasonal bloom in a workshop hosted by Hunniford Gardens and attend a luncheon with Amanda Jarrett, a red seal horticulturist, to explore growing food in containers and small spaces. Bring your swatches, paint chips, ideas and dreams to the Ask the Expert event. Tickets and registration are at www.chbahomeshow.ca.

Take in the final day of the Home Show on Sunday April 23 with a full tummy and join us for a free pancake breakfast hosted by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) board of directors, from 8-10 a.m. Donations are gratefully accepted by the Wheeling Warriors of the North.
