CRANBROOK – The Prince George Spruce Kings (27-20-5-1) earned two crucial points Friday night, defeating the Cranbrook Bucks (35-14-1-3) by a score of 4-3 at Western Financial Place.

It marked the first time the Spruce Kings defeated the Bucks this season through four meetings. Three of the four meetings have been decided by one goal.

The win means Prince George won’t finish any lower than fifth in the Interior Division standings. Entering the day where any seed between third and seventh was possible, the Spruce Kings are now down to possible spots in either fourth or fifth.

Spruce Kings’ goals were scored by Jake Schneider, Ben LeFranc, Kilian McGregor-Bennett, and Austin Fraser. Schneider and McGregor-Bennett’s goals both came on the powerplay as Prince George finished the game 50 percent with the man advantage.

Kellan Hjartarson, Bryce Sookro, and Donovan Frias scored for Cranbrook.

Aidan Feddema stopped 27 of the 30 shots fired his way from the Bucks to earn his seventh win of the season.

The Spruce Kings will remain in Cranbrook as they wrap up the regular season Saturday night against the Bucks.

In order for Prince George to earn home ice for the opening round of the BCHL Playoffs they will need to either defeat the Bucks or earn a point Saturday night, paired with either a Salmon Arm win over West Kelowna, or Salmon Arm loses both Saturday’s game against the Warriors and Sunday’s game against Penticton.
