Engage Sport North looking for new executive director

Engage Sport North, is preparing to transition into a new era of leadership, with executive director Mandi Graham stepping away from her current position, effective June 1, 2023 

“Mandi has been a passionate leader at Engage Sport North and helped the organization reach new heights,” said Stephen Duck, President, Engage Sport North Society. “Her commitment to inclusivity and community building has led to partnerships with Indigenous communities, Adaptive Sport Organizations, and young athletes. And over the past 5 years, her leadership has helped Engage Sport North to become a thriving leader in the sport community, growing from a team of 3 staff members to over 20.” 

Under Graham’s leadership, Engage Sport North has implemented several programs and initiatives that have positively impacted the community. Some of her more notable achievements include: 

  • Partnership with Indigenous communities: Graham has worked to establish strong partnerships with Indigenous communities, providing a platform for Indigenous athletes to showcase their talents and promoting cultural understanding and inclusivity. 
  • Partnership with the Northern Adaptive Sport Association: Engage Sport North has also established partnerships with Adaptive Sport Organizations, providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in sport and physical activity. 
  • Young Athletes: Graham has also been a strong advocate for young athletes, helping to establish programs that encourage and support their development and provide opportunities for them to participate in sport and physical activity. 

The organization will begin its search for a new executive director immediately, with the goal of having the next executive sirector in place by mid-spring. Graham will maintain a strategic oversight to provide expertise and direction for the next executive director. 

“I’m proud of what the team at Engage Sport North has accomplished over the past five years,” said Graham. “Together, we’ve strengthened the northern sport community, and I look forward to supporting the board, staff and the next executive director to continue growing inclusive sport opportunities in the north in my new role.”
