New wrestling champions to be crowned in Prince George

The upstart Primetime Wrestling which debuts in Prince George on March 17-18 is looking to make history with the introduction of two new locally-based championship classes. Both belts will be contested to crown the first champions at these events.

The Northwestern championship will be contested on Friday, March 17 with a single elimination tournament featuring six of the most highly touted wrestlers in Canada today. The tournament will feature three first round matches, with the winners advancing to the three-way battle to fill the vacant title. The brackets feature: Slammer (Prince George) – Shaun Martens (Edmonton) Braydon Goss (Summerland) – Davey Deals (Kelowna) Wes Barker (Prince George) – Kyle Sebastian (Lethbridge)

The newly commissioned Primetime Heavyweight title will be up for grabs on Saturday night, March 18 when all competitors scheduled for the weekend will battle it out in a “Lucky 13” Rumble – a free-for-all battle with all the wrestlers sent to the ring in 90-second intervals until all competitors have entered the fray. The only way to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope.

The championship belts have been freshly commissioned and fans will have their first opportunity to see the belts in person at the events next week.

Advance tickets are available at the Scrapbook Zone and will also be available at the door. Net proceeds from the event will go to the Crisis Prevention, Intervention & Information Centre.
