For the month of March, Studio 2880 is pleased to present Phantazein a wonderful exhibit that utilizes beautiful plants and colours found in nature. Feature Gallery Artist Barb Ramsay shares her stunning eco prints and plant dyed silk designs through reflective textiles and organic processes.
“My love of working with textiles and spending time with nature have come together to inspire this work,” Ramsay said. “I have lived in several communities in northern British Columbia and Ontario so nature is never far away.
“Local plant material has been bundled into silk fabric to create colour and designs using natural dyeing techniques. Traces of the plants and their hidden characteristics can sometimes be seen. The images created are not representative but have a suggestion of organic forms & are open to the interpretation of the viewer.”
“I hope my work portrays the beauty and fragility of our natural world.”
Be inspired by how Barb incorporates natural elements into her exquisite art form. Join her for the opening Wednesday March 1 between noon and 2 p.m. for a brief artist talk, early viewing and get a chance to speak to the Barb about her process.
The exhibit will be on display in the feature gallery area from March 1 thru to March 28 during regular gift shop/gallery hours at Studio 2880.
