The love for Prince George is in the air—particularly at Otway.
Former Olympian and Prince George resident, Tony Fiala, is the next local legend that Tourism Prince George (TPG) is shining a light on.
Fiala’s admiration for Prince George’s skiing landscape is captured in this short campaign video, Local Legends: Tony Fiala (Otway), which was released Feb. 15.
“This project has been great at reliving some of the great memories I have,” said Fiala “It is here that I was introduced to the sport of Biathlon and never looked back in my quest to be an Olympian.”
The video takes viewers on a brief history lesson of how Otway and the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club came to fruition, and the role it plays in our community today.
“Otway is a home for myself and my family,” said Fiala. “It has grown into a world-class facility that supports athletes and programs, and hosts many provincial, national and international events. “We are so lucky living in Prince George and have a facility like this for everyone to enjoy.”
Tourism Prince George has approached its latest marketing campaign with a people-first perspective.
“Our first Local Legends release on Zorro at the Hart Ski Hill was so well-received,” said CEO Colin Carson. “It’s indicative that telling the story of the people behind the amazing places in Prince George truly helps build connection for interested visitors, and a sense of pride in residents.”
Tourism Prince George launched the Local Legends series, produced by local filmmakers 6ix Sigma, last month on it’s YouTube platform. Since the premiere, the first instalment has been viewed over 67,000 times.
“We hope to continue the momentum with this second video,” said Carson. “Highlighting Tony and his accomplishments—through training at Otway and Caledonia Nordic Ski Club—is a testament to the incredible facilities that we have here in Prince George.”
