The Prince George Cougars got two late goals in the third period to make it a one goal game, however, it was as close as they’d come falling 4-3 to the Swift Current Broncos, Saturday at the Innovationplex.

Ethan Samson, Chase Wheatcroft, and Hudson Thornton had the Cougars’ goals, while Tyler Brennan made 33 saves in the setback.

Swift Current started the scoring just over 10 minutes with Brady Birnie beating Tyler Brennan. Just over four minutes later, on the Cougars first shot of the game, Ethan Samson labelled a one-timer to get the game tied at one. Josh Filmon restored the Broncos lead late in the frame to make it 2-1 after the opening twenty minutes.

In the third, the Cougars made things interesting in the final minutes. Chase Wheatcroft (power-play goal), and Hudson Thornton both scored on Reid Dyck with Cougars net empty. That would be as close as Prince George would come, falling 4-3 to the Broncos.

GAME NOTES

-Chase Wheatcroft stands alone for 2nd all-time in Cougars Single Season Power-Play goals with 17. He passes Dana Tyrell and Trent Hunter

-The Cougars move to 1-1-1-0 thus far on the seven-game road trip
