Canfor extends temporary shut downs at B.C. sawmills

Canfor Corporation (TSX:CFP) is extending its sawmill closures in British Columbia.

According to a company release, the extensions are due to ongoing weak market conditions and the lack of available economic fibre. The company announced the initial closures late last year, which came into effect December 16.

The production capacity will be reduced through twoweek shut down extensions in January at select solid wood facilities in B.C. This will remove approximately 21 million board feet in addition to the 150 million board feet previously announced on December 5, 2022.

Canfor has not said how many people this will impact.
