In case you haven’t notice, it’s pretty darn cold out there.
A prolonged period of unseasonably cold temperatures will settle over the region much of the this week.
Wind chill values will be near or below -40 degrees Celsius bringing bitterly cold temperatures and dangerous wind chill values through to Wednesday morning. Northeast winds 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h will result in wind chill values below -40 degrees Celsius.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
