Get ready for some early Christmas cheer. After a two-year absence, the annual Civic Light Up is coming back to Canada Games Plaza on December 4. The returning celebration will feature a slew of activities plus a few returning favourites from yesteryear. Happening alongside the event is the Festival of Trees inside the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.

The popular event’s centrepiece, the Tree of Lights, will be lit at 5:55 p.m. outside Canada Games Plaza. Join friends, family, and fellow community members for live entertainment, music, food trucks, and activities like:

  • Live entertainment.
  • Street hockey with the Prince George Spruce Kings.
  • Free skating at Kopar Memorial Arena from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
  • Free craft session at the Two Rivers Gallery from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Fun Mascots.
  • Special guest, Santa Claus.

Complimentary hot cocoa and holiday treats will be served and a fireworks show presented by Canadian Tire will follow at 6 p.m.

After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the annual Civic Light Up is returning in 2022 for its 27th yearly installment. This year’s event is a partnership between the City of Prince George through the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre, the Spirit of the North, the Festival of Trees, the Two Rivers Art Gallery, CKPG News, 99.3 Rewind Radio, 101.3 The River, and Russell Audio-Visual.
