Police investigating fatal fire

Police are now investigating Saturday’s fire at a downtown hotel that claimed one life and seriously injured two other people.

“When police officers arrived at the location, they were told that two people successfully escaped the fire,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer of the Prince George RCMP. “B.C. Emergency Health Services transported these two victims to hospital with serious injury. A third occupant was later located deceased inside the room; the identity of the deceased person has not yet been confirmed. Prince George RCMP Fire Investigators and Forensic Identification Section will be conducting their investigations in the coming days, and police will remain at the location until those investigations are complete.”

Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 1550 Victoria Street at approximately 11 p.m. November 26.
