Spruce Kings add defenceman

The Prince George Spruce Kings have acquired defenceman Liam Hunks (’04) from the Surrey Eagles in exchange for future considerations.

The Beaumont, AB product has played 16 games with the Eagles this season, tallying four points (four assists).

Prior to joining the Eagles for the 2022-23 season, the 18-year-old spent the previous season mainly with the Leduc Oil Kings U18 AAA team, playing 35 games and tallying 36 points (8 goals, 16 assists). He also played six games as an affiliate player with the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

“We’re excited to add Liam to our D core,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes. “He’s an intelligent young player who will add some skill to our team. I really liked what I saw in his game when I saw him play and look forward to what he’ll add to our team.”
