Driver runs red light in front of police; impaired driving charge results

On November 16, at approximately 1 a.m., Prince George RCMP officers witnessed a vehicle run a red light at the intersection of 17 Avenue and Victoria Street. The vehicle collided with a sign post before ending up stopped off the roadway.

Police officers approached the vehicle and found the driver unresponsive. Police administered necessary medical aid until B.C. Emergency Health Services arrived to transport the driver to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Investigators determined the man was showing signs of drug impairment and he was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was subsequently released, pending the full results of the investigation, and the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
