Cougars fall 5-4 to Giants at home

The Prince George Cougars (9-9-0-0) were able to score late to get within one, however, the Vancouver Giants (7-7-2-2) held on to defeat the Cougars 5-4 in front of 4465 fans at the CN Centre.

Vancouver got the scoring started in the first period, courtesy of their points leader Samuel Honzek. Prince George was able to tie the game on a Ryker Singer penalty shot, but Honzek again was able to find the back of the net to make it 2-1 Giants after the opening twenty minutes.

In the second, there were three goals scored in under a minute of play. Koehn Ziemmer got the game tied, but Zack Ostapchuk scored shortly after to re-gain the Giants lead. Chase Wheatcroft was able to bury one on the power-play seconds after the Ostapchuk marker, however, the Giants got the last laugh in the period with Ty Thorpe scoring late in the period to make it 4-3 Vancouver.

In the third, the Giants added to their lead, getting an early one from Jaden Lipinski. The Cougars got one late from Cole Dubinsky to make it 5-4, but that was as close as they could come. The Giants collect their second straight win with a. 5-4 victory over the Cougars.
