The Prince George Spruce Kings (9-4-0-1) were handed their fourth loss of the season as the Penticton Vees (15-0-0-0) held them scoreless and continued their undefeated start to the season with a 4-0 victory Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
Luca Di Pasquo earned his first shutout of the season with a 20-save performance as Bradly Nadeau and Aydar Suniev each scored a pair of goals in the winning effort for the Vees.
Jordan Fairlie lost just his second game of the season. The Fort St. John product had a busy night between the pipes for the Spruce Kings, stopping 44 of the 44 shots he faced.
The scoring got underway early in the opening period. Nadeau scored just 49 seconds into the game. The goal was Nadeau’s 14th of the season, assisted by his brother Josh and Callum Arnott.
Prince George held their own for the duration of the period but struggled to get many offensive opportunities, which turned out to be a trend throughout the game.
In the second period, Suniev created some cushion for the Vees. The Vees forward scored back-to-back goals at 14:19 and 15:57 to get his side ahead 3-0.
Billy Norcross and Ben Brunette assisted on the first goal by Suniev. Mason Poolman and Josh Nadeau assisted on his second.
Prince George struggled to get shots off in the 2nd period, mustering up just three shots on net during the middle frame.
In the third period, Bradly Nadeau scored his 15th goal of the season at 15:24 to wrap up the scoring for the night. Brother Josh assisted alongside Frank Djurasevic.
Josh Nadeau scored his 100th career BCHL point Friday night. The University of Maine commit completed the milestone with just 69 games played.
The Spruce Kings will be back in action Saturday night in Salmon Arm when they take on the Silverbacks (8-5-0-1). The Backs will be coming off of a 4-2 victory against the Chilliwack Chiefs Friday night, inching closer to the 3rd place Spruce Kings in the standings.
