
SPOKANE, WA – The Prince George Cougars (8-7-0-0) exploded for seven goals tonight to defeat the Spokane Chiefs (3-9-0-0) 7-2 at the Spokane Arena on Friday night.
In the opening period, the Cougars got out to a quick lead with Koehn Ziemmer scoring on the power-play just over two minutes into the game. The Chiefs were able to battle back to tie the game, courtesy of Chase Bertholet. The game remained tied at one after the first period.
In the second period, the Cougars took off scoring four times. PG got goals from Ethan Samson, Carlin Dezainde, Caden Brown, and a penalty shot goal from Chase Wheatcroft. Raegan Wiles of the Chiefs was able to make it the game 5-2, scoring with under a second left in the period. The Cougars took a 5-2 lead to the dressing room after 40 minutes.
In the third, Ondrej Becher and Chase Wheatcroft added to the Cougars lead to make it 7-2, scoring just under four minutes apart. The Cougars improve to 2-1 on their five-game road trip with a 7-2 thumping over Spokane.
