Local event shines light on growing life sciences sector in Prince George

Life Sciences BC will be hosting a local event on October 12 about the important research and development being done in the Prince George community.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the cutting-edge technology and treatments that will help drive British Columbia’s life sciences sector forward at Showcase Series: Prince George 2022.

The Prince George area is an integral part of our province’s life sciences hub. For example, in July, it was announced  that a new Northern Centre for Clinical Research (NCCR) is being created at UHNBC to allow for clinical and biomedical research opportunities and to improve healthcare in the North. Innovations like this are essential in reflecting the diverse needs of the rural area and surrounding populations.

Speakers at the event represent a range of political, business and academic industries:

·        Dr. Anurag Singh, Medical Director, Kidney Services, Northern Health Authority, Director, Northern Centre for Clinical Research, Clinical Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine, UBC

·        Catherine St. George, Regional Manager, Clinical Research, Northern Health

·        Dr. Geoffrey Payne, President and Vice Chancellor, University of Northern British Columbia

·        Leana Garraway, Manager, Health Research Institute; Co-Lead, BC SUPPORT Unit Northern Centre

·        Dr. Richard McAloney, Director, Centre for Technology Adoption for Aging in the North

The event will be held at the Coast Prince George Hotel by APA. Attendees are encouraged to register for the free event on the Life Sciences BC website at
