Woman assaulted by man at Spruceland; arrest made

On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, shortly before 1 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a report of an assault in progress outside of a business on the 600-block of Central Street West. Witnesses reported seeing a man knock a woman to the ground and strike her in the face.

Officers spoke with witnesses while the victim, who was suffering from some scrapes to her arms and legs and pain where she was struck, was assessed by B.C. Ambulance Service. Witnesses were able to provide police with a description of the suspect and the truck he drove away in, as well as the license plate of the vehicle. Police officers located the suspect, a 32-year-old Prince George resident, at his home. He was subsequently arrested for the assault and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. He is not known to police.

“Without a doubt this incident would have continued if it were not for the actions of multiple people who intervened by shouting at the suspect to stop. Additionally, investigators were able to locate the suspect within 30 minutes of the assault from the accurate information provided to them from witnesses at the scene. We thank all those who stayed behind to speak with police,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

This file remains under investigation.
