Prince George RCMP is reminding drivers to make safe choices when driving, as two serious accidents occurred within hours of each other over the weekend.
Prince George RCMP officers attended a single vehicle incident just after midnight on Sunday, September 18. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, stated he lost control of his car while heading down Peden Hill and the vehicle flipped onto its roof, pinning the driver inside. The 21-year-old Alberta resident was uninjured in the incident.
Shortly afterward, just before 2:30 a.m., Prince George RCMP Municipal Traffic Services officers attended a second rollover incident that occurred on the 1000-block of Stirling Drive, when a single vehicle went down the embankment. The driver, a 38-year-old Prince George resident, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services with severe injuries.
“Prince George RCMP continues to investigate these incidents and believes speed to be a factor in both occurrences,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. “As the weather begins to change now that we are getting into fall, bringing with it less favourable driving conditions, we are reminding all drivers to make safe choices and slow down when behind the wheel.”
