Quadriplegic who lost van to fire sets up GoFundMe page to help raise funds for replacement

Ken Legros

Ken Legros is looking to the public for some help replacing his specially-equipped van, which burned outside Art Knapps’ Plantland earlier this year.

He has set up go GoFundMe page to raise funds to replace the van.

“I’ve been a quadriplegic since 1986,” he said on his page. “Unfortunately, on May 5, 2022, I lost my vehicle and power chair in a sudden and devastating fire. During this traumatic and stressful time, I’ve been dealing with insurance and finalizing a settlement which, unfortunately, will only partially fund a replacement van.

“I bought the van in 1986 after a car accident confining me to a wheelchair. I am on a disability pension and have maintained my van with great pride for 35 years. I planned to pass it down to my nephews, who used to cruise with me over the years. It was an irreplaceable gem.

“My van was my freedom, vital transportation, independence, and life. My freedom to do activities I love, like hunting, fishing and camping, is gone. Please help me, If you can, to cover the many costs of getting an accessible van so I can get my freedom back.”
