New Victim Services vehicle hits the streets

Prince George RCMP and Prince George RCMP Victim Services have unveiled their new service vehicle to the Prince George community.

The purchase of this new vehicle will improve the day-to-day operations of the victim services unit in many ways. After 16 years, the previously donated vehicle had run its course and the unit was looking to replace it with a more reliable vehicle suited to its current needs.

“The Victim Services vehicle is used in a variety of ways by the unit,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.. “Not only do they use it to respond to requests for service at any time of the day or night, but the unit uses their vehicle as a mobile office, providing shelter and transportation for victims, witnesses and families when needed. It is a very valuable and necessary part of their daily operations within the unit.”

The purchase and outfitting of the vehicle were made possible by the donations of several organizations within the Prince George community. The Prince George Community Foundation donated $50,000, without which this project would have been much delayed. Wood Wheaton GM Supercentre assisted in picking out a suitable vehicle that made best use of the grant money. Sign Tek donated the design and their shop time in creating the decaling.

“The foundation is pleased to be able to provide this $50,000 grant to RCMP Victim Services for the purchase of this new service vehicle,” said Catherine Pennington, President Prince George Community Foundation. “The work that victim services does in our community is invaluable. At a time when one is most vulnerable, Victim Service volunteers are there to help pick up the pieces. We are incredibly grateful for the work they do in the Prince George community and are thrilled that we were able to provide this grant to them,”

Keep an eye out for the new Victim Services vehicle as it drives through our community.
