BC Summer Games wind up

Today marks the official end of the 32nd BC Summer Games in Prince George. The four-day event wrapped up with the end of games ceremony at CN Centre.

During the games, Prince George welcomed 3,260 athletes, received $1.7million in cash and in-kind support, served 39,000 meals, and awarded 1,900 medals – all with the support of 2013 local volunteers.

“I am so grateful for our entire community and the way that we collectively showed up to welcome the province with open arms,” said games president Renee McClosky. “Our community was alive with spirit from the moment the first athletes stepped off the bus. Congrats to everyone for their hard work and determination. Thank you to the friends, volunteers, and athletes who shared their spirit with us. We know that you will take the Games spirit with you wherever you go.”

The host society will celebrate the successful wrap with the volunteer appreciation event on July 25.
