The District of Fort St. James has won a Gold award in the Government category at the Hermes Awards for the design of their new website fortstjames.ca.
The Hermes Awards is an international competition that recognizes creative professionals. The awards have been running for 16 years and aim to honour the messengers and creators of the information revolution. Hermes winners bring their ideas to life through traditional and digital platforms.
Upanup worked closely with the District and designed the new website which launched in March 2022. This website redesign project involved public engagement to ensure feedback from the community was incorporated into the final custom design.
“Congratulations on the new look of the website for Fort St. James. It is user-friendly, current, and showcases the attributes of Fort St. James in an exciting way. The website not only promotes and reminds us that Fort St. James is a great place to work and play but celebrates the diversity of our population, opportunities, and environment,” said Ann McCormik, Chair of the Primary Care Society.
The website is one of the District’s key tools to communicate with its various audiences. This project was heavily focused on providing its users with the best experience while navigating the site. The new District website features user groups (resident, business, and visitor) on the homepage to provide a custom experience by displaying content most relevant to that user. Additionally, you will find an events calendar, updated and simplified navigation, and a unique design that was carefully built to reflect the District.
