Kelson Group apartment residents donate 623 pounds of food to Salvation Army Food Bank

The sixth annual Kelson Group resident’s food drive took place on June 16 across the company’s portfolio of residential apartment buildings in 10 cities located throughout B.C. and Alberta.

“We would like to extend a big thank you to the thousands of Kelson Group residents who once again were so generous in their donations of non-perishable food items,” said Kelly Fawcett, vice-president, Kelson Group. “We’ve been so pleased to have our residents support the Food Drive for six consecutive years.”

Last year, all Kelson Group apartment buildings participated in the resident’s food drive and, as a result, many local Food Banks received donations to help their communities. This year, residents and Kelson Group staff stepped up to donate 5,300 pounds of non-perishable food items.

The Prince George Kelson Group team greatly impacted this year’s numbers with their contribution of an impressive 623 pounds of food which will be donated directly to the Salvation Army Food Bank along with $623.

“Participating in an event like this, where Kelson Group residents and staff work side-by-side to do something so meaningful for the communities we live in, makes us all proud of what we are able to accomplish together,” said Fawcett. “Keeping with tradition, Kelson Group will now donate $1 for every pound of food our residents and staff donated.”

In total, 5,300 pounds of food and $5,300 will be distributed to food banks throughout B.C. and Alberta.
“Food Banks play such critical role in all of our communities,” said Fawcett. “Our building managers, together with our residents, recognize the significant impact food banks have and we’re delighted that everyone has been able to work together for this initiative once again.”
