Partnership connects kids on the water

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC (BIGSNBC) is partnering with the Prince George Canoe and Kayak Club to offer free programming to youth living in Prince George this summer. Connect: Paddle Royale is a weekly program designed to help connect kids with their peers learning how to be safe and have fun while on the water.

“We are excited to be partnering with the PG Canoe and Kayak Club (PGCK) team to offer this program to the community,” said Tim Bennett, Executive Director. “With the help of a MyPG Community Grant and the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Foundation, we can offer this program free of charge and ensure barriers are eliminated by providing everything the child needs to participate, including transportation.”

Bini Ball, President of the PGCK, adds: “With plans ramping up for the Prince George BC Summer Games July 21-24, the PG Canoe and Kayak Club is also excited to work with BIGSNBC to deliver another 6-week paddling program at West Lake Provincial Park. This program connects kids from the community with our club. This partnership fosters an inclusive environment for paddlers of all skills, removes the need to purchase equipment and creates a fun-based learning environment for participants. Whether the kids become future athletes, compete in a BC Summer Games event, or continue developing a life-long appreciation for paddling, it’s a great way to spend the summer outdoors and learn new skills.”

Spaces are limited for the program. To receive information about how to apply for the program or to learn about other upcoming BIGSNBC programming, please visit www.bigsnbc.ca/connect, contact their office at 250.563.7410 or emailjaidyn.harrison@bigbrothersbigsisters.ca.
