Shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, Prince George RCMP attended a residence on the 200-block of Voyageur Drive to assist with a man there who was exhibiting erratic behaviour. When officers arrived at the house, the man was on the roof of the home with a rifle.
Police requested the assistance of a crisis negotiator, the Emergency Response Team, police dog services and Prince George Fire Rescue Services to assist with this situation. The man came safely down off the roof after a short time, and police apprehended him under the Mental Health Act. He is currently in hospital being assessed.
“This file came to a swift conclusion due to the coordinated efforts of many different units, who used their critical incident training to de-escalate a dynamic situation,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.
